Japan's Hiroki Ogita's manhood knocked the bar off during pole vaulting qualifying at the Rio Olympics.
It is always disappointing for Olympians when their equipment fails them on the world stage. And even more so when the offending appendage happens to be the very thing associated with his manhood.
Japanese pole vaulter Hiroki Ogita suffered that very fate with the world watching during the pole vaulting qualifiers at Rio.
He was left in the unique situation of wishing his genitals were a little smaller, or perhaps the weather slighter colder, after it knocked off the bar during pole vaulting qualifiers.
The 28-year-old was making his first attempt at 5.3m when the incident occurred.
He cleared the bar on the way over, but got into trouble as he started his descent to the mat. First his shin grazed the bar and then his thigh, but it appeared the wobbling bar would stay up.
However, the impact appeared to impact his performance later in the competition. He ended up missing the pole vault finals, setting a best of 5.45m to leave him 21st overall. It was a disappointing effort from him considering his personal best of 5.70m was set in April this year. Brazil's Thiago Braz da Silva ended up winning gold in the event setting an Olympic record 6.03m.
